CVSS v3.1 |
| Initializing the DNS stub resolver from an /etc/resolv.conf file, or a LOCALDOMAIN environment variable, whose search list contains a domain of roughly 200 characters or more in the GNU C Library version 2.26 to 2.44 results in an assertion failure which aborts the process.
The resolver truncates the search list when copying it into the fixed-size _res.defdname buffer, then asserts that the copy is consistent with the full configuration. The consistency check compared against the wrong size and did not handle a first entry that does not fit, so a correctly truncated list failed the assertion. Any process that resolves names through the library is affected, including long-running processes that reload /etc/resolv.conf on the next query after it changes. Search domains are commonly written to /etc/resolv.conf from data received over DHCP or from a VPN server, so an attacker on the local network may be able to trigger this without privileges on the target system, subject to validation by the network configuration software. |
| An attacker can cause `named` to abort by sending a crafted DNS-over-HTTPS request with a cryptographically invalid SIG(0) record, and then closing the transport connection prematurely.
This issue affects BIND 9 versions 9.20.0 through 9.20.27, 9.21.0 through 9.21.25, and 9.20.9-S1 through 9.20.27-S1. |

| If a BIND resolver sends a query for a DNSSEC-signed authoritative zone, and the authoritative server replies with a valid wildcard answer and signed NSEC3 proof, followed by an unsigned NSEC at the same owner name, it will trigger an unexpected program exit.
This issue affects BIND 9 versions 9.11.0 through 9.18.50, 9.20.0 through 9.20.27, 9.21.0 through 9.21.25, 9.11.3-S1 through 9.18.50-S1, and 9.20.9-S1 through 9.20.27-S1. |
| If BIND is loaded with a "`named.conf`" file that contains no global "`options`" block, an attacker can send a query of QTYPE TKEY which may cause an assertion failure and subsequent unexpected program exit.
This issue affects BIND 9 versions 9.20.0 through 9.20.27, 9.21.0 through 9.21.25, and 9.20.9-S1 through 9.20.27-S1. |
| On a resolver configured to use ``dns64``, if an applicable answer from the authoritative server is malformed in a specific way, the resolver `named` process will exit unexpectedly.
This issue affects BIND 9 versions 9.11.0 through 9.18.50, 9.20.0 through 9.20.27, 9.21.0 through 9.21.25, 9.11.3-S1 through 9.18.50-S1, and 9.20.9-S1 through 9.20.27-S1. |
| A vulnerability has been found in Open5GS up to 2.8.0. Affected by this issue is the function smf_n4_handle_session_report_request of the file src/smf/n4-handler.c of the component PFCP Session Report Request Handler. The manipulation leads to reachable assertion. The attack may be initiated remotely. The identifier of the patch is e5f0c06d0f2d9613b003daa1cfa3ba8a4bd157e9. It is suggested to install a patch to address this issue. |
| OpenBao is an open source identity-based secrets management system. Prior to 2.5.5, an authenticated OpenBao caller with write access to transit/keys/* could terminate the server process by setting derived to true while the type parameter selected rsa-, ecdsa-, or ed25519. The Transit policy creation path in builtin/logical/transit/backend.go and sdk/helper/keysutil/policy.go could reach an error path that double-unlocked a mutex while handling this invalid asymmetric derived-key combination, causing a panic, no HTTP response, process exit, and denial of service. JSON and HCL key-creation requests can express the triggering combination. This issue is fixed in version 2.5.5. |
| InternLM LMDeploy through 0.17.0 contains a reachable assertion vulnerability in the DistServe decode migration loop that allows unauthenticated attackers to terminate the inference engine. Attackers can submit a migration_request with an empty remote_block_ids list to trigger an AssertionError that crashes the engine loop and causes subsequent inference requests to fail. |
| Improper handling of an unexpected value size in the decryption path of a client-side encryption library can cause a failed internal check that terminates the process using the library. A party able to place a suitably formed encrypted value where an application will decrypt it, or able to control the responses the application receives, may cause that application to stop running. |
| Multiple flaws have been identified in `named` related to the handling of DNS messages whose CLASS is not Internet (`IN`) — for example, `CHAOS` or `HESIOD`, or DNS messages that specify meta-classes (`ANY` or `NONE`) in the question section. Specially crafted requests reaching the affected code paths — recursion, dynamic updates (`UPDATE`), zone change notifications (`NOTIFY`), or processing of `IN`-specific record types in non-`IN` data — can cause assertion failures in `named`.
This issue affects BIND 9 versions 9.11.0 through 9.16.50, 9.18.0 through 9.18.48, 9.20.0 through 9.20.22, 9.21.0 through 9.21.21, 9.11.3-S1 through 9.16.50-S1, 9.18.11-S1 through 9.18.48-S1, and 9.20.9-S1 through 9.20.22-S1. |
| The $regexFindAll expression can be used by an authenticated user who can run aggregation pipeline stages to crash a MongoDB server (mongod). Under certain specific conditions the regex match can start in the middle of a multi-code-unit character, triggering an assertion during query execution. |
| A security issue in MongoDB Server allows an authenticated user with write privileges to trigger a persistent fatal assertion crash by sending specially crafted retryable write commands. The crash state is durably persisted, causing the server process to repeatedly crash on restart and potentially propagating to additional nodes in a sharded cluster. Manual intervention is required to restore service availability. |
| A security issue in the MongoDB Server's storage engine integration layer allows an authenticated user with collection creation privileges to cause a persistent denial of service. Insufficient validation of user-supplied storage configuration options permits values that, once persisted to durable metadata, trigger a fatal assertion failure when the metadata is subsequently read by diagnostic operations. The corrupted metadata persists across server restarts and is replicated to other cluster members, requiring manual operator intervention to restore service. |
| A security issue in MongoDB Server allows an unauthenticated network user to cause a denial of service on a specific type of replica set member. The server contains an assertion in its read concern processing logic that can be reached without authentication, and the assertion's assumptions about internal state do not hold for all member configurations, causing the server process to terminate. |
| An internal aggregation expression in MongoDB Server was incorrectly registered as accessible to any authenticated user rather than being restricted to internal cluster operations. By crafting a malformed index specification within this expression, an authenticated user with read-only privileges could trigger an assertion failure in the index key generation code path. In certain build configurations, this assertion failure results in termination of the mongod process, causing a denial of service to all connected clients. |
| Mikrotik RouterOs 6.44.5 (long-term tree) suffers from an assertion failure vulnerability in the /nova/bin/console process. An authenticated remote attacker can cause a Denial of Service due to an assertion failure via a crafted packet. |
| On affected platforms running Arista EOS with Open Shortest Path First version 3 (OSPFv3) configured, an unauthenticated attacker on the same OSPFv3 broadcast domain can send a specially crafted set of packets that can cause the Ospf3 agent to restart unexpectedly. The crash results in the loss of all OSPFv3 adjacencies on the affected device and may disrupt routing across the broader OSPF domain until the agent recovers.
This issue was reported externally by Dravanet Inc., and Arista is not aware of any malicious exploitation of this vulnerability in customer networks. |
| An issue in MongoDB Server could allow an authenticated user, including one with no assigned privileges, to cause the server process to terminate unexpectedly by submitting a specially formed aggregation command. This could result in a denial of service. |
