| joi is a schema description language and data validator for JavaScript. From 16.0.0 until 17.13.6 and 18.2.5, the @hapi/joi package through 17.1.1 and the successor joi package contain prototype pollution in lib/messages.js, where exports.compile() and exports.merge() reuse inherited objects for attacker-controlled language keys supplied through messages(), message(), prefs({ messages }), Joi.extend({ messages }), or rule({ message }). A language key named __proto__ writes properties onto Object.prototype, and constructor writes to the Object function's static properties. A consuming application that gates on the presence of an inherited property can take the wrong branch for every inspected object. The flaw is not reachable from data that joi validates and requires an application to feed untrusted input directly into schema-construction configuration. This issue is fixed in joi versions 17.13.6 and 18.2.5; no fixed @hapi/joi version is available. |
| n8n before 1.123.67, 2.31.5, and 2.32.1 contains a prototype pollution vulnerability in the Edit Fields (Set) node. The node assigns output fields via a dot-notation path setter without restricting the field name, allowing an authenticated user to name a field after an inherited built-in method path and corrupt a shared global in the main Node.js process. Because that global is used on the request-authentication path, the instance then fails every authenticated request, causing an instance-wide denial of service for all users until the process is restarted. |
| n8n is a workflow automation platform. In versions prior to 1.123.69, 2.33.4, and 2.34.1, the JavaScript Code node's VM sandbox did not freeze the sandbox's Function.prototype, allowing an authenticated user with the ability to create and execute workflows to pollute it from within a Code node execution and recover a reference to the host's globalThis, resulting in a sandbox escape. The full exploit chain additionally depends on specific modules being available as allowlisted imports in the deployment's configuration. The issue is fixed in versions 1.123.69, 2.33.4, and 2.34.1. |
| axios versions >=1.15.2 and <1.18.0 contain prototype-pollution read-side gadgets in Basic auth subfield handling (lib/adapters/http.js and lib/helpers/resolveConfig.js). When an application is already affected by a separate prototype-pollution primitive and makes an axios request with an own auth object that omits the username and/or password properties, axios reads the inherited Object.prototype.username and Object.prototype.password values and uses them to construct an outbound 'Authorization: Basic ...' header. axios itself does not pollute prototypes. The practical impact is outbound request tampering: an attacker who controls the polluted prototype values can inject attacker-chosen Basic auth credentials or replace an existing Authorization header. Credential disclosure is only possible under additional application-specific conditions. |
| axios is vulnerable to read-side prototype-pollution gadgets that can alter request construction when Object.prototype has already been polluted by a separate vulnerability or dependency. In the bodyless method aliases (axios.get(), axios.delete(), axios.head(), axios.options()), inherited data is read via (config || {}).data before config normalization, causing an attacker-controlled body to be sent on requests that did not set one. Additional low-level paths, only reachable when calling exported adapters/helpers (e.g. lib/adapters/http.js, unsafe/helpers/resolveConfig.js) directly with plain configs and no own proxy or paramsSerializer, can inherit polluted proxy values (routing requests through an attacker-controlled proxy) or paramsSerializer values (attacker-controlled URL serialization). These low-level gadgets do not reproduce through normal high-level axios calls on 1.15.2+. The issue is fixed in axios 1.18.0 and 0.33.0. |
| axios before 0.33.0 (and 1.x before 1.18.0) can consume inherited properties from nested request option objects when the JavaScript process's Object.prototype has already been polluted by another component. While the top-level merged config uses a null prototype, nested plain objects such as auth and paramsSerializer are cloned into ordinary objects and read without own-property checks. When an application passes placeholder nested objects such as auth: {} or paramsSerializer: {}, inherited username/password values can cause silent injection of an Authorization: Basic header, and inherited encode/serialize values can alter query-string serialization (full serializer replacement requires a function-valued pollution primitive). This is exploitable only in the presence of pre-existing prototype pollution. |

| exceljs through 4.4.0 contains a prototype pollution vulnerability in the deepMerge helper that fails to reject __proto__, constructor, or prototype keys when merging note objects. Attackers can assign parsed JSON with a malicious __proto__ property to cell notes, modifying Object.prototype and affecting all plain objects created in the process. |
| JavaScript Cookie is a JavaScript API for handling cookies, client-side. Prior to version 3.0.7, js-cookie's internal assign() helper copies properties with for...in + plain assignment. When the source object is produced by JSON.parse, the JSON object's "__proto__" member is an own enumerable property, so the for…in enumerates it and the target[key] = source[key] write triggers the Object.prototype.__proto__ setter on the fresh target ({}). The result is a per-instance prototype hijack: Object.prototype itself is untouched, but the merged attributes object now inherits attacker-controlled keys. Because the consuming set() function then enumerates the merged object with another for...in, every key the attacker placed on the polluted prototype lands in the resulting Set-Cookie string as an attribute pair. The attacker can set domain=, secure=, samesite=, expires=, and path= on cookies whose attributes the developer thought were locked down. This issue has been patched in version 3.0.7. |

| Lodash versions 4.0.0 through 4.17.22 are vulnerable to prototype pollution in the _.unset and _.omit functions. An attacker can pass crafted paths which cause Lodash to delete methods from global prototypes.
The issue permits deletion of properties but does not allow overwriting their original behavior.

In 4.32.0 and earlier, PATCH /api/v1/article/:id accepts the inherited path toString.call and passes it through the utility module to apos.util.set() and apos.util.get(), allowing an authenticated editor to overwrite the shared Object.prototype.toString function's call property and cause a persistent process-wide denial of service until restart. |

| Browserslist is a configuration tool for sharing target browsers and Node.js versions between front-end tools. Prior to 4.28.7, normalizeStats() in node.js, reached unconditionally through getStat() and loadStat() on every browserslist() call, processes untrusted browserslist-stats.json, opts.stats, and CLI --stats data with an unguarded for...in loop and plain-object bracket access and assignment, allowing inherited Object.prototype keys including __proto__, toString, valueOf, constructor, hasOwnProperty, and isPrototypeOf to cause an uncaught TypeError or modify the prototype of the returned normalized object. This issue is fixed in version 4.28.7. |
| Mongoose is a MongoDB object modeling tool designed to work in an asynchronous environment. Prior to 6.13.10, 7.8.10, 8.24.1, and 9.7.2, passing a user-controlled update such as MyModel.updateOne(filter, req.body) can exploit Mongoose update casting with a __proto__.x dotted path under $set. Schema.prototype.path and Schema.prototype._getPathType can treat inherited properties of schema.paths and schema.nested as schema types, allowing the casting process to set $fullPath and $parentSchemaDocArray on Object.prototype before throwing. This prototype pollution makes those properties visible on newly created objects and can cause application integrity and availability impacts. This issue is fixed in versions 6.13.10, 7.8.10, 8.24.1, and 9.7.2. |
