| The application does not properly validate the lifetime and validity of internal view cache pointers after JavaScript changes the document zoom and page state. When a script modifies the zoom property and then triggers a page change, the original view object may be destroyed while stale pointers are still kept and later dereferenced, which under crafted JavaScript and document structures can lead to a use-after-free condition and potentially allow arbitrary code execution. |

| HDF5 is software for managing data. In 1.14.1-2 and earlier, a heap-use-after-free was found in the h5dump helper utility. An attacker who can supply a malicious h5 file can trigger a heap use-after-free. The freed object is referenced in a memmove call from H5T__conv_struct. The original object was allocated by H5D__typeinfo_init_phase3 and freed by H5D__typeinfo_term. |
| Wasmtime is a runtime for WebAssembly. In 43.0.0, cloning a wasmtime::Linker is unsound and can result in use-after-free bugs. This bug is not controllable by guest Wasm programs. It can only be triggered by a specific sequence of embedder API calls made by the host. Specifically, the following steps must occur to trigger the bug clone a wasmtime::Linker, drop the original linker instance, use the new, cloned linker instance, resulting in a use-after-free. This vulnerability is fixed in 43.0.1. |

| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
scsi: mvsas: Fix use-after-free bugs in mvs_work_queue
During the detaching of Marvell's SAS/SATA controller, the original code
calls cancel_delayed_work() in mvs_free() to cancel the delayed work
item mwq->work_q. However, if mwq->work_q is already running, the
cancel_delayed_work() may fail to cancel it. This can lead to
use-after-free scenarios where mvs_free() frees the mvs_info while
mvs_work_queue() is still executing and attempts to access the
already-freed mvs_info.
A typical race condition is illustrated below:

Replace cancel_delayed_work() with cancel_delayed_work_sync() to ensure
that the delayed work item is properly canceled and any executing
delayed work item completes before the mvs_info is deallocated.

| A vulnerability ( CVE-2024-38229 https://www.cve.org/CVERecord ) exists in EOL ASP.NET when closing an HTTP/3 stream while application code is writing to the response body, a race condition may lead to use-after-free, resulting in Remote Code Execution.
Per CWE-416: Use After Free https://cwe.mitre.org/data/definitions/416.html , Use After Free is when a product reuses or references memory after it has been freed. At some point afterward, the memory may be allocated again and saved in another pointer, while the original pointer references a location somewhere within the new allocation. Any operations using the original pointer are no longer valid because the memory "belongs" to the code that operates on the new pointer.
This issue affects EOL ASP.NET 6.0.0 <= 6.0.36 as represented in this CVE, as well as 8.0.0 <= 8.0.8, 9.0.0-preview.1.24081.5 <= 9.0.0.RC.1 as represented in CVE-2024-38229 https://www.cve.org/CVERecord .
Additionally, if you've deployed self-contained applications https://docs.microsoft.com/dotnet/core/deploying/#self-contained-deployments-scd targeting any of the impacted versions, these applications are also vulnerable and must be recompiled and redeployed.
