An out-of-bounds (OOB) memory access flaw was found in the Linux kernel's eBPF due to an Improper Input Validation. This flaw allows a local attacker with a special privilege to crash the system or leak internal information.
A vulnerability was found in the Linux kernel's EBPF verifier when handling internal data structures. Internal memory locations could be returned to userspace. A local attacker with the permissions to insert eBPF code to the kernel can use this to leak internal kernel memory details defeating some of the exploit mitigations in place for the kernel.
| `Bundler` is a package for managing application dependencies in Ruby. In `bundler` versions before 2.2.33, when working with untrusted and apparently harmless `Gemfile`'s, it is not expected that they lead to execution of external code, unless that's explicit in the ruby code inside the `Gemfile` itself. However, if the `Gemfile` includes `gem` entries that use the `git` option with invalid, but seemingly harmless, values with a leading dash, this can be false. To handle dependencies that come from a Git repository instead of a registry, Bundler uses various commands, such as `git clone`. These commands are being constructed using user input (e.g. the repository URL). When building the commands, Bundler versions before 2.2.33 correctly avoid Command Injection vulnerabilities by passing an array of arguments instead of a command string. However, there is the possibility that a user input starts with a dash (`-`) and is therefore treated as an optional argument instead of a positional one. This can lead to Code Execution because some of the commands have options that can be leveraged to run arbitrary executables. Since this value comes from the `Gemfile` file, it can contain any character, including a leading dash.
To exploit this vulnerability, an attacker has to craft a directory containing a `Gemfile` file that declares a dependency that is located in a Git repository. This dependency has to have a Git URL in the form of `-u./payload`. This URL will be used to construct a Git clone command but will be interpreted as the upload-pack argument. Then this directory needs to be shared with the victim, who then needs to run a command that evaluates the Gemfile, such as `bundle lock`, inside.
This vulnerability can lead to Arbitrary Code Execution, which could potentially lead to the takeover of the system. However, the exploitability is very low, because it requires a lot of user interaction. Bundler 2.2.33 has patched this problem by inserting `--` as an argument before any positional arguments to those Git commands that were affected by this issue. Regardless of whether users can upgrade or not, they should review any untrustred `Gemfile`'s before running any `bundler` commands that may read them, since they can contain arbitrary ruby code. |
jQuery-UI is the official jQuery user interface library. Prior to version 1.13.0, accepting the value of the `of` option of the `.position()` util from untrusted sources may execute untrusted code. The issue is fixed in jQuery UI 1.13.0. Any string value passed to the `of` option is now treated as a CSS selector. A workaround is to not accept the value of the `of` option from untrusted sources.
A flaw was found in systemd. An uncontrolled recursion in systemd-tmpfiles may lead to a denial of service at boot time when too many nested directories are created in /tmp.
Heap/stack buffer overflow in the dlang_lname function in d-demangle.c in libiberty allows attackers to potentially cause a denial of service (segmentation fault and crash) via a crafted mangled symbol.
Qt 5.x before 5.15.6 and 6.x through 6.1.2 has an out-of-bounds write in QOutlineMapper::convertPath (called from QRasterPaintEngine::fill and QPaintEngineEx::stroke).
ASP.NET Core and Visual Studio Information Disclosure Vulnerability
A signed integer overflow vulnerability was found in libarchive's ZIP writer. In the archive_write_zip_header function in archive_write_set_format_zip.c, when ZIP encryption is enabled and the entry file size is close to INT64_MAX, the addition of the encryption overhead to the entry size overflows int64_t, resulting in undefined behavior. This could lead to incorrect Zip64 extension decisions or potential memory corruption.
A flaw was found in libarchive. This vulnerability allows a remote attacker to trigger a heap overflow by providing a specially crafted tar archive. The issue occurs during the parsing of a PAX extended header containing a malformed SUN.holesdata sparse-file attribute. Successful exploitation could lead to a denial of service, making the system unavailable, or potentially allow for arbitrary code execution, giving the attacker control over the affected system.
A flaw was found in Ghostscript as shipped with Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8. The correction for CVE-2019-14869 was omitted during the rebase from version 9.25 to 9.27, leaving privileged .forceput operations in the .charkeys procedure insufficiently protected. Processing a specially crafted PostScript file may allow an attacker to bypass -dSAFER restrictions and access files outside the permitted paths or execute commands with the permissions of the Ghostscript process.
A flaw was found in GIMP. Opening a crafted XCF that selects a path and then fails to load that path can cause a use-after-free in the main process, leading to a crash and potentially arbitrary code execution.
A flaw was found in GIMP. Opening a crafted XCF with a malformed text-layer parasite can cause a heap out-of-bounds read, disclosing adjacent heap data into layer text and causing denial of service.
A flaw was found in GIMP. The XCF loader can leave a dangling pointer in the linked-channels list when a linked channel is later destroyed via a selection property. Opening a crafted XCF file can cause a use-after-free in the main GIMP process, leading to a crash and potentially arbitrary code execution.
A flaw was found in GIMP. The PSD thumbnail resource loader performs a BGR-to-RGB channel swap with a fixed 3-byte stride and does not verify that the JPEG thumbnail is RGB. A crafted grayscale PSD thumbnail can cause a heap out-of-bounds read and write in the plug-in process, leading to a crash and potentially arbitrary code execution when the victim browses or opens the file.
A heap-based buffer overflow was found in GIMP’s DirectDraw Surface (DDS) loader. When loading a crafted DDS image, buffer sizes derived from width, height, and pitch can be computed using 32-bit arithmetic that overflows. The allocated buffer is too small for the amount of pixel data written through GEGL, following integer overflow in size calculations. This may allow heap corruption and, in the worst case, arbitrary code execution in the context of the GIMP process.
A flaw was found in the Infinispan Operator for Red Hat Data Grid. When cross-site (xsite) TLS is enabled, the operator launches the Gossip Router container with keystore and truststore passwords passed as plain-text command-line arguments (`-tls_keystore_password`, `-tls_truststore_password`). Container args are stored in the Pod spec and visible to any principal with `get pods` permission in the namespace (no `get secrets` required), to node-level processes via `/proc/<pid>/cmdline`, and frequently captured in audit/event logs.
An improper link resolution flaw can occur while extracting an archive leading to changing modes, times, access control lists, and flags of a file outside of the archive. An attacker may provide a malicious archive to a victim user, who would trigger this flaw when trying to extract the archive. A local attacker may use this flaw to gain more privileges in a system.
A temp directory creation vulnerability exists in all versions of Guava, allowing an attacker with access to the machine to potentially access data in a temporary directory created by the Guava API com.google.common.io.Files.createTempDir(). By default, on unix-like systems, the created directory is world-readable (readable by an attacker with access to the system). The method in question has been marked @Deprecated in versions 30.0 and later and should not be used. For Android developers, we recommend choosing a temporary directory API provided by Android, such as context.getCacheDir(). For other Java developers, we recommend migrating to the Java 7 API java.nio.file.Files.createTempDirectory() which explicitly configures permissions of 700, or configuring the Java runtime's java.io.tmpdir system property to point to a location whose permissions are appropriately configured.
Due to use of a dangling pointer, libcurl 7.29.0 through 7.71.1 can use the wrong connection when sending data.
