| Asterisk is an open source private branch exchange and telephony toolkit. Prior to versions 20.7-cert9, 20.18.2, 21.12.1, 22.8.2, and 23.2.2, the ast_xml_open() function in xml.c parses XML documents using libxml with unsafe parsing options that enable entity expansion and XInclude processing. Specifically, it invokes xmlReadFile() with the XML_PARSE_NOENT flag and later processes XIncludes via xmlXIncludeProcess().If any untrusted or user-supplied XML file is passed to this function, it can allow an attacker to trigger XML External Entity (XXE) or XInclude-based local file disclosure, potentially exposing sensitive files from the host system. This can also be triggered in other cases in which the user is able to supply input in xml format that triggers the asterisk process to parse it. This issue has been patched in versions 20.7-cert9, 20.18.2, 21.12.1, 22.8.2, and 23.2.2. |
| CWE-611: Improper Restriction of XML External Entity Reference vulnerability exists that could cause unauthorized disclosure of local files, interaction within the EBO system, or denial of service conditions when a local user uploads a specially crafted TGML graphics file to the EBO server from Workstation. |
| Chamilo LMS is a learning management system. Prior to 1.11.38 and 2.0.0-RC.3, multiple files use simplexml_load_string() without XXE protection. With LIBXML_NOENT flag, arbitrary server files can be read. This vulnerability is fixed in 1.11.38 and 2.0.0-RC.3. |

| An XML External Entity (XXE) vulnerability allows malicious user to perform Server-Side Request Forgery (SSRF) via crafted XML input containing malicious external entity references.
This issue affects Xerox FreeFlow Core versions up to and including 8.0.7.
Please consider upgrading to FreeFlow Core version 8.1.0 via the software available on - https://www.support.xerox.com/en-us/product/core/downloads |
| A flaw has been found in thinkgem JeeSite up to 5.15.1. Impacted is an unknown function of the file /com/jeesite/common/shiro/cas/CasOutHandler.java of the component Endpoint. Executing a manipulation can lead to xml external entity reference. The attack may be performed from remote. Attacks of this nature are highly complex. The exploitability is considered difficult. The exploit has been published and may be used. The vendor was contacted early about this disclosure but did not respond in any way. |
| IBM InfoSphere Information Server 11.7.0.0 through 11.7.1.6 An XML External Entity (XXE) vulnerability in IBM InfoSphere Information Server could allow attackers to retrieve sensitive information from the server. |
| The Adobe Reader control in Adobe Reader and Acrobat 7.0 and 7.0.1 allows remote attackers to determine the existence of files via Javascript containing XML script, aka the "XML External Entity vulnerability." |
| SimpleSAMLphp SAML2 library is a PHP library for SAML2 related functionality. When loading an (untrusted) XML document, for example the SAMLResponse, it's possible to induce an XXE. This vulnerability is fixed in 4.6.14 and 5.0.0-alpha.18. |
| The CycloneDX core module provides a model representation of the SBOM along with utilities to assist in creating, validating, and parsing SBOMs. Starting in version 2.1.0 and prior to version 11.0.1, the XML `Validator` used by cyclonedx-core-java was not configured securely, making the library vulnerable to XML External Entity (XXE) injection. The fix for GHSA-683x-4444-jxh8 / CVE-2024-38374 was incomplete in that it only fixed parsing of XML BOMs, but not validation. The vulnerability has been fixed in cyclonedx-core-java version 11.0.1. As a workaround, applications can reject XML documents before handing them to cyclonedx-core-java for validation. This may be an option if incoming CycloneDX BOMs are known to be in JSON format. |
| Mustang before 2.16.3 allows exfiltrating files via XXE attacks. |
| When the Kiuwan Local Analyzer uploads the scan results to the Kiuwan SAST web
application (either on-premises or cloud/SaaS solution), the transmitted data
consists of a ZIP archive containing several files, some of them in the
XML file format. During Kiuwan's server-side processing of these XML
files, it resolves external XML entities, resulting in a XML external
entity injection attack. An attacker with privileges to scan
source code within the "Code Security" module is able to extract any
files of the operating system with the rights of the application server
user and is potentially able to gain sensitive files, such as
configuration and passwords. Furthermore, this vulnerability also allows
an attacker to initiate connections to internal systems, e.g. for port
scans or accessing other internal functions / applications such as the
Wildfly admin console of Kiuwan.
This issue affects Kiuwan SAST: <master.1808.p685.q13371 |
| BigFix Patch Download Plug-ins are affected by an insecure package which is susceptible to XML injection attacks. This allows an attacker to exploit this vulnerability by injecting malicious XML content, which can lead to various issues including denial of service and unauthorized access. |
| A vulnerability, which was classified as problematic, has been found in crmeb_java up to 1.3.4. Affected by this issue is the function webHook of the file WeChatMessageController.java. The manipulation leads to xml external entity reference. The attack may be launched remotely. The exploit has been disclosed to the public and may be used. |
| A vulnerability has been identified in SIMOTION SCOUT TIA V5.4 (All versions), SIMOTION SCOUT TIA V5.5 (All versions), SIMOTION SCOUT TIA V5.6 (All versions < V5.6 SP1 HF7), SIMOTION SCOUT TIA V5.7 (All versions < V5.7 SP1 HF1), SIMOTION SCOUT V5.4 (All versions), SIMOTION SCOUT V5.5 (All versions), SIMOTION SCOUT V5.6 (All versions < V5.6 SP1 HF7), SIMOTION SCOUT V5.7 (All versions < V5.7 SP1 HF1), SINAMICS STARTER V5.5 (All versions), SINAMICS STARTER V5.6 (All versions), SINAMICS STARTER V5.7 (All versions < V5.7 HF2). The affected application contains a XML External Entity Injection (XXE) vulnerability while parsing specially crafted XML files. This could allow an attacker to read arbitrary files in the system. |
| CWE-611: Improper Restriction of XML External Entity Reference vulnerability exists that could
cause information disclosure, impacts workstation integrity and potential remote code execution on the
compromised computer, when specific crafted XML file is imported in the Web Designer configuration tool. |
| DSpace open source software is a repository application which provides durable access to digital resources. Two related XML External Entity (XXE) injection possibilities impact all versions of DSpace prior to 7.6.4, 8.2, and 9.1. External entities are not disabled when parsing XML files during import of an archive (in Simple Archive Format), either from command-line (`./dspace import` command) or from the "Batch Import (Zip)" user interface feature. External entities are also not explicitly disabled when parsing XML responses from some upstream services (ArXiv, Crossref, OpenAIRE, Creative Commons) used in import from external sources via the user interface or REST API. An XXE injection in these files may result in a connection being made to an attacker's site or a local path readable by the Tomcat user, with content potentially being injected into a metadata field. In the latter case, this may result in sensitive content disclosure, including retrieving arbitrary files or configurations from the server where DSpace is running. The Simple Archive Format (SAF) importer / Batch Import (Zip) is only usable by site administrators (from user interface / REST API) or system administrators (from command-line). Therefore, to exploit this vulnerability, the malicious payload would have to be provided by an attacker and trusted by an administrator, who would trigger the import. The fix is included in DSpace 7.6.4, 8.2, and 9.1. Please upgrade to one of these versions. For those who cannot upgrade immediately, it is possible to manually patch the DSpace backend. One may also apply some best practices, though the protection provided is not as complete as upgrading. Administrators must carefully inspect any SAF archives (they did not construct themselves) before importing. As necessary, affected external services can be disabled to mitigate the ability for payloads to be delivered via external service APIs. |
